DONNA THOMAS - EQUINE ARTIST
(678) 755-1079
Owning a number of horses and foaling two is the inspiration behind Donna's depiction of these majestic animals in her equestrian oil portraits which are commissioned by private collectors. Her equine works include hunter, jumper and dressage event scenes which are represented at B.D. Jeffries in the Buckhead area of Atlanta and in the South Park area of Charlotte, NC.
Donna attended the School of Fine Arts at the University of Georgia in the early 70's and studied under the direction of Atlanta artist, Philip Carpenter, and numerous regional instructors including John de le Vega and Angela Nesbit of NC, Halima Washington of San Francisco, and Atlanta encaustic artist, Jason McGrady. She considers herself 'cross-disciplined' as she works with a variety of mediums (oil, pastels, mixed media, resins, encaustics, and photography) and creates art works ranging from landscapes to portraiture.
Donna is past owner and curator of The GASP Gallery at TULA on Bennett Street in Buckhead, Atlanta (2003-2005) and founder of The Art School in Sandy Springs www.theartschoolinsandysprings.com which offers art classes in Atlanta and has over twenty local, regional, national and
international artists on the instructor panel.
